You’ve heard the statistics a thousand times. You’ve had the same conversations more than you can count. The same doubts and fears whirl around in your mind. It’s all the same. And it’s mostly negative.
But let’s look at some of the hidden blessings that come from living in a pandemic.
Quality time
Whether sought out or forced, families and friends have been spending more time with one another. Virtual meet ups, chats, game nights. People are coming together like they’ve never before and spending out quality time together.
Slowing down
This may only apply for those who haven’t been working. Or maybe even working at home has provided you with some extra time on your hands. But one thing’s for certain, there are so many ways to slow down and just breath.
Seeking connection
By being forced to remain distant, many have been reaching out. Maybe it’s a video call to a friend that you haven’t seen in ages or the consistent checking up on a loved one, this time has forced us to seek out connection.
Helpers
Look for the helpers. There are so many. With increased need comes more opportunities. Don’t settle for being overwhelmed by the problems in the world. Look for the helpers. Maybe even become a helper yourself.
Appreciating small things
Things like being able to go outside. Not having to stand in line at a store. Breathing freely with no mask. The fact that you have food in your fridge. The fact that there are so many tutorials about so many cool things on the internet. Have you tried something new recently? There are many small things to appreciate that we’ve passed by when our world was different.
Opened hearts
Many are scared, panicked, can’t stop thinking about the ‘what ifs’. But what does that mean for us as Christians? There are more open doors now than ever before for us to share the love of Christ.
Understanding of frailty
This is kind of a hard truth to swallow but it is a blessing. Through this time, we understand that human beings are not the center of the universe. We are not the strongest. We are not even as ‘civilized’ as we might have thought. But in this we recognize our weaknesses. Our frailty. Our need for a Savior and an All-Powerful God.
What are some blessing you’ve seen in your life through this time?
